Chapter 3 - Tools for 3D modeling

The use of modeling tools in Blender can transform the way you manage

and handle 3D objects. We can quickly point the extrude as one of the

most important and flexible tools among the options available. With the

extrude, we can grab a Mesh object and transform it in many ways.

In this chapter, you will learn how to use the extrude tool to create new

shapes based on existing Mesh objects like a Cube or a Cylinder. You

also learn how to cut, merge, and connect elements like vertices. Our

focus is to give you options to edit and step into 3D modeling.

Those tools will give you a great foundation to 3D modeling, which

applies to most projects requiring some degree of 3D creation based on

polygons.

Here is a list of what you will learn:

Use a semi-transparent mode to better select 3D models

Apply extrudes to 3D objects for modeling

Work with precision extrudes to create new shapes

Add cuts to models based on loops of edges

Connect and create new geometry based on vertices, edges, and

faces

Separate and join models

Merge elements like vertices to fix 3D models

Use the mirror mode to invert 3D models
